The Catacombes of Paris

One, buy your tickets ahead of time and AVOID the the lines, it's really that simple. If you want to take your chances by not doing so, no worries you must have time to kill. Yes my dear, there is a line. Other than that here is your chance to walk among the dead. Forget graveyards by full moons, try 110 meters deep into the earth with the remains of just under 2 million French citizens from the past. A collection of souls from various graveyards throughout Paris, the Catacombs made way for modern Paris, by umm, removing the remains of the formerly buried and stacking them neatly here bone by bone, skull by ghastly skull. For me it was not something to be missed it is both ghoulish and informative. Bring a sweater if you're the chilly type. Wear sensible shoes with traction if you're the fall down type. Also bring a little bit of stamina if you're the non athletic type, as there are just as many steps to walk up as there are to walk down. Once you're down there, good and deep in the earth, perhaps reasonably close to hell it's about a one and half mile walk among the dead and reburied. Enjoy.
