Carretera Tulum - Boca Paila | Zona Hotelera, Tulum 77760, Mexico

If you're reading this from Tulum, chances are you already know you're experiencing a little bit of heaven. Ziggy's is a nice compliment to all that is Tulum. Tranquil, beautiful and great food. Your toes never leave the sand, the breeze is always blowing and there is decent dining to be found here. Higher end, but not obnoxiously or needlessly expensive like some other posh Tulum eateries, Ziggys hits all the right notes. Flavorful and ambitious culinary creations, great cocktails and a friendly waitstaff. There are no bad food choices as everything is fresh, delicious and reminds you why you are here, to indulge and disengage. Ziggys feels like all of that and then some.

Its hard to beat the unparalleled beauty of Tulum, unless you happen to make your way in to La Zebra. La Zebra is everything that is good about Tulum, the perfect accent to seemingly a near perfect place. Exiting from the street into La Zebra, it opens to the ocean as if a curtain has been lifted and the Caribbean is the star that it is. La Zebra feels romantic and homey all at once. A beautiful palapa style restaurant with high ceilings and beautiful woods through out. Ample indoor seating and full bar awaits your pilgrimage to serve all of your needs. Outside, there is plenty of seating to enjoy the sun and sand. La Zebra makes your beach day postcard like and your post script will be, "it doesn't get much better than this". La Zebra hits all the right notes architecturally and captures the hush and jungle lush life that is Tulum. It's hard to be transported from a beautiful place to a beautiful place, but La Zebra tries damn hard, to me it feels like it succeeds.

Carr. Tulum-Boca Paila KM 7, Tulum Beach, Zona Hotelera, 77503 Tulum, Q.R., Mexico

Don't let the trendy beach club fool you, after you've had your fill of  beach and sun, venture up to the restaurant and be prepared to be amazed. There is a food revolution taking place in Tulum and Taboo is right at the top of the list. All the right elements are here, a view of the Caribbean, sunbathers down below in various sunbeds and lounge chairs, a reflection pool and tampered elegance. Definitely upscale and everything is a reminder of that,  from plentiful and friendly waitstaff, to soft lighting that adds to the charm and atmosphere. It's worth every penny. Taboo is one of those places where you might want to try everything, it is that good. We enjoyed grilled octopus, phyllo camembert with honey and grilled peaches and black risotto with more octopus. Each bite into any of the offerings made us want another. The flavorings are subtle, nuanced and abundant. Every dish that we encountered was well thought out and precise, from simple to complicated. There is a leisurely pace to your dining and the staff ensures you enjoy everything or will seemingly work with you to make it so. La Playita also features an extensive drink menu from specialty drinks, to everything in between. Yes, this is being spoiled, this can be gluttony, but it is also a premiere dining experience in Tulum. Original, authentic and opulent.
